Geeking

So I'm having fun today. I just heard about Podcasting, and now I want to do it. I realized tho that LJ doesn't give me the tools that I need to do it with (basically, I can't syndicate this blog, and I doubt they're gonna let me have a big mp3 for download off here), so I'm going to have to look at doing a real blog, but with hubby's help. Durn it, I really wanted to make it work on my own, but I SO don't know Perl, and we have such a secure webserver that I wouldn't be able to do half the things he can.

I love Adam Curry's show tho...

There is actually a semi-hidden syndication feed on every LJ; details in this FAQ entry.

In your case, http://www.livejournal.com/users/schmoomom/data/atom is the Atom feed, and http://www.livejournal.com/users/schmoomom/data/rss would be the RSS 2.0 feed.

You'd still need to have somewhere to host the MP3s, but that should be easier to get set up.

Any idea how to do the little "syndicate this" button on my webpage? or does that just not matter?

I like the thought of putting all my friend's blogs into NetNewsWire and just checking them all that way.

Curry's show from yesterday was interesting. He reminds me of my brother in law (in a good way)

It's not strictly necessary, but you can do it just by adding a link to the feed URL in your page layout.

Since I haven't played around with LJ's layout customization stuff (and also haven't coughed up for a paid account, so I'm not sure I can do much anyway) I don't know how to do it, but it should be doable. Whatever you'd normally use to add a link to the main LJ page.

I paid for two month's account, just to see (it was $5), and it looks like the page in the paid account is the same as the page in the free, except for text messaging is added (of course, they don't have it for Vodafone Ireland, durn it!! That woulda rocked!)

The links list management page may let you add the links. It does say "if this feature is supported by your S2 style", though, so I don't know if it will work with your layout.
