Vote

For the Americans out there...

Six Degrees of Voting

I already voted absentee...it was sent back two weeks ago. Thankfully where we vote is a small town and they will easily count our vote. I just don't get how people don't vote tho. Ireland would have a low turnout at 50% in an election...in the States, we're lucky if we hit 30%. Imagine if there was a huge turnout for this election? Of course, the conspiracy theorist in me would think that the Diebold DRE machines were hacked :-).

I hope there is a larger than usual turnout for this election.

My husband became a citizen in 2001 and has yet to register to vote. I have done everything short of forging his signature on the form. I don't know what the problem is. It's so frustrating.

My in-laws got naturalized, are voting for the first time this year, and live in Ohio, whose new state motto should be "we're the swing state!"

Depends on the election. There's been referenda here with turn-outs in the 30%s. That's why referenda and local elections tend to get tagged onto general or EU elections, in the hope of upping the turnout.
