Mini party

We're having a mini party for Patrick today, with his three great-aunts (or grand-aunts, or grand aunts...they rock). I was making the cake last night, went to turn it out onto the rack, and the plate slipped and fell...smashed to pieces with the bottom layer of the cake!! So now I have to make another layer, and hope it's cooled in time to be frosted :-).

Wild to think homeboy is almost 2. Freaky. And still nurses about 4x a day. Nice....

Party update

It went okay. My big problem was after the cake last night, I made another cake. No worries there. But when I was making frosting, I iced the cake without tasting the frosting. THEN I tasted it. I think the honey had gone bad (I didn't know honey went bad)...it made our mouths feel funny. So I had to make *another* cake. And I realized I was out of powdered sugar (tried to make it in the food processor, but almost burned out the motor), so B had to run up to the Spar to get more.

Finally, tho, the cake went well, the frosting was delicious, and P liked his presents from his aunts (an airplane playset, 2 books, a set of puzzles, and a really cute sweater), and had fun playing with them. He crashed at a decent 8:15pm, making us wonder what time he'll be up in the morning :-).
